The former Canadian Navy Bay-class minesweepers MIRAMICHI (PB 163), THUNDER (PB 161), and FUNDY (PB 159) tied up in Becher Bay near Victoria. Commissioned in 1957, 1957, and 1956, respectively, they operated as minesweepers until 1972, when they were reclassified as patrol craft. They provided shiphandling experience for junior officers until the late 90s, when they were decommissioned and sold. These three, as well as another tied up in nearby Sooke, have been sitting inactive since.
