Does anyone know where and when this tug was built and if it has any sister ships? My father has a scale model called Hamburg, which looks just like this one, albeit with civilian paint scheme. I think he mentioned the original was broken up a while ago.

Hi, This tug was a production of shipyard Johann Oelkers KG, at Hamburg. They built for the French Navy TENACE (launched 12/1971) and MALABAR (launched 04/1975). The similar tug HAMBURG (IMO7028178) was delivred in 1971 for civilian company. She became AMSTERDAM in 1974, and was broken up in Pakistan in 1986 after an engine failure.
Note that the French Navy had a third similar tug, CENTAURE, but built at La Rochelle-La Pallice (France), launched 01/1974. She was sold in 1999 to the Turkish Navy and was renamed DEGIRMENDERE;
Regards,
Christian
