Description:

VICT Container Terminal Hochiminh, Vietnam 2008/3/10

Phu My Bridge two side span connection has been completed and airdraft opened up to 43m effective June 8, 2009. As a result, all vessels are allowed to freely sail in and out of VICT. By end of August, the airdraft will be further untied to 45m. The bridge will be officially open to traffic by end of the year when three approaching roads are completed.

Phu My Bridge would significantly enhance VICT strategic location in Southern Vietnam. It would be beneficial most to those manufactures located in Thu Duc area, Dong Nai Province and Binh Duong Province because cargo can be transported directly to VICT through the bridge instead of passing through the City. Not only trucking cost but also transportation time could be saved to a great extent. Most of the customers are expecting the official inauguration of the bridge.

192m new wharf was completed and officially operational in end May 2009 with two brand new Gantry Cranes. Total aggregated wharf length became 678m with seven Gantry Cranes along by four berths. The quayside productivity is guaranteed to reach 25 moves per crane per hour and 50 moves per hour per vessel.

10 pieces of brand new RTGs (Kalmar 1 over 6 high and 6+1 width Rubber- Tire Gantry) was operational in Jan 2009. These new equipment enable us not only the increase of quayside productivity but also the reduction of gate turn time. Currently, the gate turn time is down to 30 minutes or less for both container in-gate and out-gate.
