""Empire Chelmer was a 2,299 GRT cargo ship which was built by Burntisland Shipbuilding Co Ltd, Burntisland. Launcehd in 1920 as Sydney Lasry. Sold in 1935 to Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, France and renamed Ariege. Sold in 1938 to Société Anonyme de Gerance D'Armement, France and renamed Cap Tafelneh. Sunk in an air raid at Dunkerque in June 1940. Salvaged by the Germans and renamed Carl Arp. Taken in May 1945 as war prize at Hamburg, to MoWT and renamed Empire Chelmer. Returned to SA de Gerance D'Armement in 1946 and reverted to Cap Tafelneh. Sold in 1950 to Mustafa Nuri Andak, Turkey and renamed Kandilli. Sold in 1957 to Nejat Dogan & Co, Turkey and renamed Kahraman Dogan. Reported to have been scrapped in 1972 in Turkey""

Many thanks for your fast responce, Yes, another look at the original and I agree that it is K DOGAN.

I must have seen her just before she was scrapped, is Halic near Istanbul? This could be the very last photo of her.

Being as this could be her last photo I will try to get a better scan but the original is badly faded unfortunately.

We were moored on the Golden Horn during our cruise in 1972.

Absolute classic Bob! And an historic shot too. Closest I got to a ship looking like this was the Russian 'ANGARSK' and sisters in the Millwall Docks, no pictures though.

Thanks John, I've tried to get a better scan but original is too far gone :-( .
I remember the ANGARSK and others but they were best part of forty years younger, I will have to see if I have any photos of them.
