Yes I've always had a soft spot for these vessels too. I'm not sure that Crawley's are still going though, I think they are called Thames Bunkering Services now?
I actually went to look at one of those flats on the site of Commercial Wharf with a view to buying when they were being built, can't remember why I didn't though. I mountain biked along quite a lot of the Thames today and was amazed at the number of properties on the waterfront.. lovely views, but not many ships to watch now 'coz its all houses!
