Description:

APRIL 23, 2004 (FRIDAY) 2:14 pm JADRAN,
Capitan John’s Seafood Restaurant moored permanently since 1975 at the east pier @ Yonge Street slip in Toronto, Canada. She is a former Jadrolinija’s liner operating on route Venice - Rijeka - Split - Dubrovnik - Kotor - Korfu - Pireus. After the opening of Dalmatian coast highway in 1965 she became obsolete as a liner, was laid up in Rijeka for a while until John Letnik, a Slovenian émigré from Toronto struck a deal to have her towed to Canada and convert into a floating restaurant. I have sailed aboard this beauty numerous times, from Dubrovnik to Split. JADRAN vessel particulars/Built 1957 at Brodogradevna Industrija Split, Split, Croatia/Principal dimensions 90.30 m x 13.00 m x 4.70 m /GT 2564/Engine two Sulzer 8 TD 48.2 diesels with total output 4800 HP@ 18.0 knots/Capacity 1208 passengers.
