Description:

This one is for Dean from Newfounland.

Marine Atlantic's brand new ferry NORTHERN RANGER as shown while underway on the St.Lawrence River off Verchères, Québec, on October 12, 1986 during her delivery trip from her builders, Port Weller Drydock.
Poor photo scanned from a slide I took. Sorry for the lack of quality, I intend to acquire a dedicated professional slide scanner in the coming months...

Absolutely beautiful photo Marc. I'm very familiar with this vessel. My father worked on her this year and my father-in-law has been captain on her many times. Very nice to see a picture of her fresh out of the yard.

Thanks very much Marc

Good to see a Marine Atlantic Vessel here. Was she built to replace the Hopedale (sank, 1984) and/or the Petite Forte (Sold, 1983 or 1984 and leased back to CN Marine after the loss of the Hopedale)? If anyone has any photos at all of those ships or their other sister, Taverner (Sold, 1997) I would love to see them. I worked on the Petite Forte in 1997 & 1998 when it was the Hospital Ship "Island Mercy" operating throughout the South Pacific.
