|This icebreaker is based in Québec city and is mainly use for vessel escort in the high arctic during summer months and on the St Lawrence river during the winter season. She is also involved in prevention of ice jam which otherwise could cause flooding. The are three sister ships: PIERRE RADISSON, DES GROSEILLIERS and AMUNDSON (ex Sir John Franklin) all based in Québec.
