Built by A/B CRICHTON-VULCAN at Abo, Finland, in 1937 as ASTRID THORDEN

Allocated to the USSR in 1945 as part of war reparations and in 1946 renamed GRIBOJEDOV (or GRIBOYEDOV)

photographed passing Hoek van Holland 13.5.71.

She finally arrived at Gandia on 12.12.76 to be broken up

Both the ship's nameboard and https://fleetphoto.ru/vessel/13209/ indicate GRIBOEDOV but Lloyd's spelling is GRIBOJEDOV

The ship was not sold to the Soviet Union.She was part of the reparations Finland had to pay to the USSR after the war. My father, captain at the ship, had the unpleasant duty to bring it over to the russians in Leningrad, the same ship on which he had carried 44 Brewster Buffalo fighterplanes from USA to Finland during the Winterwar 1940.
