Hello. She was bought by the Swedish Navy from the Russians for use as a logistic support vessel, like her sister HMS TROSSOE (ex ARNOLD WEIMER). However, after many-many big sacks of money was spent on her, it finally was decided she would be for sale instead due to the all to high costs of getting her in shape. The Norweigians got a real bargin because all the big things had been taken care of by the Navy. Rgds/ TUN

IMO 8118994. Built 1983 by Laivateollisuus, Turku as Akademik Gamburtsyev for Soviet Ministry of Gas Industry. 1754gt, 526nt, 653dwt, loa 71,6m, 3180hp, 12kn. Oceanographic ship. Renamed Nordsyssel sice 2003.
One of 10 ships Akademik Shuleykin type.

Right, she looks like the red sister of Akademik Shokalskiy, oh yes, she is.
I hope the russian flagged ships are the same well maintained as the norwegian ones.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward the cruise with one of this ships sisters.
