Description:

Medina Star at Neo Molo Drapetsona, Piraeus. Bought by HML, was still in Irish Ferries's colours; she servfed HML only for 2003 summer, then in 2004 was chartered to Algerie ferries and, after the end of the charter, is laid up at Eleusis bay.

Things never went right for her owner! I was part of the original crew which sailed her out of Le Harve, after a long lay up with Irish Ferries. We sailed empty to Piraeus. She remained there for a long time. After barely two months, I knew what was in store for the crew! I was lucky to get off with all my money and enjoy Christmas home in 1998! The rest of my buddies remained unpaid and often left to fend for themselves, while a long legal battle was fought out. The only positive I remember is one of Medina Star's young messboys, who I encouraged to become a deck hand instead. I met him in late late 2007, now fully qualified as a 2nd Officer!
