Description:
Semi Submersible drilling rig ALASKAN STAR built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Hiroshima Japan in 1976. Rig did test drilling under charter to Exxon in Gulf of Alaska in 1977 and 1978. Last I heard she was owned by Queiroz Galvao Perfurcoes S.A. and working off Brazil. Picture provided by 1977 operator North Star Drilling Company.
