Alistair my dad is a Shetlander who had no connection to the vessel other than photographing her in Lerwick. Sounds like good memories of your time aboard, thanks for the comment.

Cheers

I was on her as young Steward on the first trip with naval party 1008, I remember well as spent most of my spare time ironing the naval officers shirts for 25p a time ... happy days, was a chief steward called Had from think he was swiss and cook was Ken from Norwich, we had a party one night in Shetland I invited all the nurses from the hospital [as i was injured on my head], what a great time

Hi, thanks for that insight into her role at sea, most interesting. Will pass that on to my father as i'm sure that will be of interest to him.

Regards
Richard

I think it was 1984 and 1985, I was second engineer on her, we had Naval Party 1008 on board surveying for the Admiralty charts of the area for the Hydrographer of the Navy, she was a fine vessel, very sea kindly, I remember the Navy guys loved her as they all had their own cabins which was a real treat for them.
We then went on to work out of Grimsby, Dover and Shoreham doing the sea areas around there, I was with her for 3 years, including her starring role in the pilot for the TV series Cats Eyes filmed in Chatham where she played a Russian spy ship very convincingly, happy days!!
