These C4-S-57a ships were regular visitors to Tilbury in the mid-to-late 1960s on liner services.
They were replaced on US Lines's regular service by fully cellular containerships which soon relocated to Felixstowe because of dock strikes at Tilbury.
In later years they were occasional visitors - along with the newer C4-S-64a type - bringing supplies for US military bases in the UK

Interesting that she would be at Tilbury. This class of ship (Challenger class) was built for the Far East trade. She may have been substituting while the next generation of ships were being constructed: Challenger II's: American Racer, Ranger, Reliance, Rover
