Description:
The Dutch 3 masted schooner OOSTERSCHELDE,home port Rotterdam,taking part in the parade of sail out of Hartlepool on Aug 10th,2010, at the end of the 2010 Tall Ships Race. She was built in 1918 is 50mtrs in length and can show 891sq.mtrs of sail.She is the only surviving Dutch 3 masted top sail schooner of which there were hundreds in the early 20th.century. As a freighter, capacity 400 tons, she transported mainly clay,stone and wood but also herring,bran,pots,straw and bananas. Restored 1990/92 she has a crew of betwen 4 and 8 and can accomodate 24 passengers.
