It is indeed the TRANSATLANTIC. She was bnd Montreal when the accident occured. In order to give more way for the passage, the other vessel went too close of the channel side and sufferered what we call the channel's effect, the vessel loosing her manoeuvring capability. She took a sharp sheer which made her to collided in the engine room of the TRANSATLANTIC. A fire stated and, if I remember well, there was 3 lost of life. She finaly capized in the channel and the salvage company had to cut first the masts as the trafic was blocked.

This is most possibly the Poseidon Lines freighter TRANSATLANTIC being salvaged following her collision with the Dutch KNSM cargo ship HERMES on Lac St.Pierre near Yamachiche on April 10, 1965. She was later towed to Sorel where she was declared a CTL and was broken up by Marine Industries.
