Puffer SPARTAN Built by J.Hay & Sons Ltd of Bowling in 1940 for the Ministry of War Transport as the steam harbour lighter \'VIC 18\' for duties around the Firth of Clyde and it\'s environs. Converted from Steam to diesel in 1961 and one of the very few that remains of the 400 built. Seen here at the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine , still under restoration.
