Description:

Delivered in October 1963 by Mitsui S.B. & Eng. Co.Ltd., Tamano, to Arias Cia. Nav. S.A. as Aristeides, a 50,000dwt bulker. Sold and renamed Mary Elizabeth in 1974, she was resold in 1975 to Lamaril Corp. and later partially converted to a floating liquid ammonia plant and laid up in Liverpool. On 27 June 1978 she left Liverpool for Santander where she was shortened, converted to a cement storage facility and renamed Sealo I. A few changes of owner later, she still appears in Equasis !!

Thanks for posting this one Allan, I saw her imposing bulk in the outer docks at Liverpool (Don't know which dock it was -Seaforth?) many times in the 70's when entering the Mersey on the way up to Eastham and Stanlow on the 'Halia'.
I note from Marine News that she has finally gone for scrap, and under her own power!
She sailed from Piraeus on 08/05/2011 and arrived Alang on 23/05/2011.
A tribute to Mitsui, her builders.
Regards, Rick
