Tugs with Tow | Description: | 28-03-2011
Northsea near the isle of Ameland.
Tow from Delfzijl to Amsterdam by Wagenborg's tug Waterman.
Transport of the historic REM platform. Built in the sixtees after a design for a gas or oil rig, the platform was one of the first private TV broadcasting stations in the Netherlands. After being condemned as being a pirate broadcasting station by parliament, broadcasting was ended by force of the royal navy.
Today the station will serve as an attraction in the Amsterdam port. Providing a restaurant and a public terrace overlooking the old harbour area and shipdocks.
