Hi cornelia
good point, I sailed container ships, not quite as big, but big enough and compared with reefer ships or other older ships they do not have lines at all. Of course they are builded for commerce and not for appealing eyes. But one thing is good,,different opinions on it, What the world would be when we all would like big box ships or big tankers, no need anymore to post ships in the first place. Now that would be a sad story !!!!!

Interesting discussion, I'd say simply: Function over form ! It's not the look of them, which will generate good income from Maersk. Now, that's not news, we all know. To be honest, nothing against getting impressed by container-giants. However, these ones are not beautiful. There won't be anything anymore, like the Maersk E-class ! Which are indeed the best looking ones - in my opinion.

Bob,,why not say I like ot not like the view of it, to me personally they are an eye sore, others may like it,,fine with me too. Isn,t this a web site to make a comment. now positive or not as long in a decent manner ?

Many, many ship enthusiasts get all nostalgic for tankers and bulkers of this bridge/accommodation/engines layout. I would have thought they would be pleased to see the design making a comeback!
Ted: I am sure ships can and will get more ugly than this. No matter how much unsightly they they might get, I hope still to be photographing them and certainly not continuously moaning about their looks, like some people on this site do.
