Former Hudson River Day Line Steamer PETER STUYVESANT built in 1927 by Pusey & Jones, Wilmington, Del. She was retired from service in 1962, and sold in 1968 to Anthony's Pier 4 Restaurant in Boston to be converted into a banquet hall. On Feb. 6, 1978 (The Blizzard Of '78) she capsized and sank due to the high waters from the storm. Her sister steamer ALEXANDER HAMILTON (Last sidewheeler to ply the Hudson River), which was retired in 1971 also met her fate that day. She was tied up in Leonardo, N.J. (near Keansburg) with the hopes of being converted into a floating museum.
