Thank you for the information Neale. I don't know the answer, perhaps another member can comment on your assumption.

Just a bit more confusion to the mix - her funnel marking is that of Glocal Japan Inc. who seem to be a conglomerate from care of the elderly to shipping on a global scale. I assume that Sejin Lines Co. of Pusan, who Equasis show as owners and managers, have chartered her to Glocal and the "GL" in the vessel name is also from Glocal.

Originally, she was built in Naikai S.B., Setoda on March 31, 1995 as OYASHIO MARU for Aki Kaiun K.K., and Nihon Kaiun K.K.
As a container ship, she took service between the Inland Sea Ports and Muroran or Tomakomai, Hokkaido.
Profile of OYASHIO MARU is as follows;
4,533GT 3,260 DWT 312TEU
LOA 120m LBP 111m B 18.3m D 8.7m Dght 6.1m
D1 11,200hp Max/Service 22.53kt / 20.6kt
Fuel Consumption-Per Day- 29.4t
Launched on Jan.1, 1995

Thank you Peter and Joy. Your information confirms the judgement of Tropic. I will leave it to the respective Admins to decide whether or not to change the shipspotting category.

For my education I looked up Chengxi. It is an impressive enterprise. See http://www.chengxi.com/

Best regards
Clyde

She's due in Portland at the end of the week to load cattle, you've just saved me a long walk in the cold and rain to get a look at her Clyde!

Clyde - recently converted at Chengxi
Most likely just for small cargoes of Frisian Heifers to small outports in China.

Thanks Tropic
Your reasoning makes sense. Perhaps the relevant form(s) have not been lodged. She has very little capacity for live cargo.

G'day Clyde,

Going by all the vents and one crane (to handle the provisions), I reckon she's been converted from a container ship to a livestock carrier.

Cheers,
tropic
