Thank you Tropic. I'm glad you gave safety a priority over taking a pic

Thanks for the pic Clyde, landed on her the other night to pick up the pilot. It was a tad dark to take any pics myself (apart from the fact that I was a bit busy at the time.........)

Cheers,
tropic

Thanks Clyde

That where we berthed, hard to believe 35 years ago.

Here is the last photo I took of Vehicle Carriers at Glebe Island. As you will note in the description they now go the Port Kembla.

I miss not only the ship traffic they provided for the Harbour, but the sight of their bulky efficiency in taking product from factory to retail locations.

When visited Sydney on the Columbus Australia in 1976,Glebe Island I think was where we berthed and it was a container terminal with room for two Generation 1 containerships.

Don't know Chris. She stayed overnight at Glebe Island where the vehicle carriers used to unload. That has happened before for other ships repair/maintenance purposes. She has now joined the queue outside Newcastle waiting their turn at the coal loaders. You are right about the limited number of ships. Sometimes others come to Bank Anchorage off Nielsen Park for bunkering.

Good photo, what was she doing at Sydney ?

I thought you only get Passenger Ships, tankers, warships nowadays.

Thank you Tonga. I was on Georges Head, my favourite shipspotting location.

An excellent view of her Clyde; she is 176,371 DWT built at Shanghai Waigaoqiao, and a sister to China Pride
