Description:

Nitto Shosen K. K. cargo liner Kowa Maru sailing from Lyttelton. She was completed in 1953 by Sanoyasu Dockyard at Osaka as Mantetsu Maru No.5 and was renamed in 1957. Originally a steamer she was re-engined as a motorship in 1960 and fitted with refrigerated space for her Japan - New Zealand service. Nitto Shosen wasone of the companies which were amalgamated to form Japan Line in 1964. Sold in 1970 she became Ocean Jupiter, 1972 Goron Skipper and 1975 Eastern Neptune. In 1977 she was broken up in Kaohsiung.
