Description:
One of China Navigation Company's four 'K' Class cargo liners, Kweichow at Lyttelton in 1962 shortly after the company began a regular service there from the Far East. Completed by Taikoo Dock in 1959, both builders and owners being part of the Swire Group, she had some refrigerated capacity. Of 5,957 gross and 6,521 dwt tons she was powered by a 4 cylinder Doxford built by Taikoo giving a service speed of 14.5 knots. The 'K' class was an improved 'C' class, also comprising four ships, built between 1955 and 1958. For a charter to Crusader Shipping Company Kweichow was renamed Norman in 1966, reverting to Kweichow in 1966. Sold as Orient Victory in 1974 and renamed Fortune Victory in 1976 she was broken up in Shanghai in 1984
