The maltese flagged Fast Independence taken when arrival at Brest on 23 may 2005 after she was diverted by a French navy ship. The day before a French navy maritime patrol aircraft reported her with a 20km long 50m wide oil pollution in her wake. The pollution stopped immediately during the radio contact from the aircraft. Waiting for the lawpursuit and before the trial, a 400 000 €uros deposit was paid prior her departure from Brest (+ some repairs as she was fully inspected...)
