I was one of the firemen in the boiler room aboard the S.S. Agent during Desert Storm, in 1991, having left China Basin in San Francisco, going as far as Singapore where we laid for a week while we waited for parts for one of our feed water pumps. After we made a few repairs, we continued on to the Persian Gulf where we were there for about two weeks taking on damaged Humvees and other war materials for transport back to the U.S. We navigated through the Suez Canal, the Med, through the Straits of Gibraltar, and proceeded to jacksonville, Florida, where we paid off and went home. It would be great to hear from any other guys who made this trip as well. I was bummed out to see that this ship got scrapped in Texas on or around April, 2012.
