You are right. The ceasing of refining that costs the jobs is part of the "one world" approach that effects us all. Clyde Refinery is the longest operating oil refinery in Australia having been built in the early 1920s and operated by Shell since 1928. The Shell press release states it is “no longer competitive" compared with new "mega-refineries" in Asia. The Gore Covet terminal in Greenwich, Sydney, will be turned into a fuel import terminal. The oil transfer to Clyde is made via a 19 kilometres (12 mi) underground pipeline that has a 300 millimeters (12 in) diameter.

Clyde. Good for Shell to close down their Refinery operation here in Sydney. spare a thought for the 300 or so workers who will lose their jobs. not such a good thing for Australia on the whole.

Cheers again Portway Sydney Australia.

Thank you Portway. There will not be many more before the Clyde refinery is converted into an import terminal. Presumably we will see a larger number of Product tankers

Clyde. Nice shot of this vessel would be the largest tanker in Gross tonnage terms to visit Sydney so far.

Cheers Portway Sydney Australia
