Today 3rd February 2022 is the 27th anniversary of the worst accident at the dockyard when 9 of my workmates lost their lives and others were injured in the explosion of this vessel. We will never forget you dear workmates and friends. R.I.P.

Today is the 25th anniversary of this tragedy which claimed the lives of 9 workers. It was a Friday , and I was to work overtime on Saturday, but we were advised on the local news to stay away from the dockyard that day. Incidentally one of the killed workers had lost his father at the same of age, years before at the same dock.
Tragic night for the families of the victims.
They will never be forgotten.
RIP my ex-workmates.

Exactly 20 years ago, at about this hour a huge explosion rent the harbour area of Malta, the Libyan petrol tanker UM EL FAROUD had exploded whilst in No.3 dock of the Malta Drydocks claiming the lives of 9 of our workmates, the worst tragedy ever in the dockyard. On that day we lost 9 of our mates. This comment is dedicated to their memory. They entered the dockyard for the night shift alive and left the dockyard as corpses.Fathers, sons, husbands, brothers and friends were lost but their memory will last forever. Rest in peace dear friends.

May I take this opportunity to dedicate this photo in homage to the memory of these 9 workers who died in this tragic accident, workers ,some of whom I knew personally being an ex-dockyard worker myself.

This ship seems to have a curse on it,since being scuttled to form a diving site she has claimed the lives of divers who have been diving on it.
