Thanks Bob. Yes, it was the ASA25 version, which as you say was OK in the sun, but not much good on dull days. I also have plenty of photos taken on dull days which I don't think are good enough to post here. Digital technology may come to the rescue at some time in the future!

Sorry about the horizon, I had not noticed it with the rolling chalk cliffs.

Kodachrome 25, even??
Great on a sunny day but a bit of a pig on a dull one. Most of my oldie, colour shots were on Kodachrome 25 (plus some on Agfachrome 50 - whichever was cheapest at the time) but I am left with a lot of pics taken on dull/dark/rainy/crappy days which need a helluva-lot of Photoshopping to make them acceptable on this site (I'm about to push my luck on that score).
You see, I never considered myself a ship-photograher - just a shipspotter - and never swapped pics with anyone - so can only post my own pics.
Furthermore, I was never just a 'fairweather' shipspotter - it was every weekend (rain or shine, till I met the wife) in the old days, I was out there, spotting them, in British weather! As a result, I still have loads and loads of pics that, unless Photoshop gets to "Version 25" and can really do magic, you will never see on this site.
This a fine pic, Tony of that old French ferry - that I will always remember for its cooking smells - though I might be tempted to point out that, as our Admins might say, the horizon isn't actually dead-level! I dare them to delete it!
Cheers, Bob

Beautiful photo and scan, no doubt courtesy of Mr Kodachrome.
