Absolutely fantastic! This is a photo I've been looking for months!
This is the former Bremerhaven based floating crane called "LANGER HEINRICH". I've posted an old picture of him on this site.
He was built in 1915 by Deutsche Maschinenfabrik AG (DEMAG) Duisburg for German Imperial Navy. The same year the pontoon was built by AG Weser in Bremen. He survived both World Wars and served in Bremerhaven until 1985. He was called here "LANGER HEINRICH" as always the biggest floating crane got this nickname. In 1985 he was sold to SO.MO.CAR. Spa from Genova. He was towed on board of a floating pontoon to Sardinia where he served in Cagliari until the mid 1990ies. Then he was towed Genova. As he has an operating license until 2015 he could celebrate his 100th aniversary.
