Description:

Silver Line's first bulk carrier, as distinct from ore carriers, was the Silverweir completed by J. L. Thompson & Sons in 1961. Renamed Agios Antonios under the Greek flag in 1969 on 18 october 1973 while departing Coondapoor, India, for Constantza with a cargo of iron ore she struck an uncharted rock which resulted in her becoming a total loss.

SILVERWEIR was built at John Crowns yard, Sunderland, yard number 245 in 1961, Doxford 670P4 engine. J.L.Thompsons had taken over Crowns yard in 1948 so ship built at Crownms after that were classed as being built by Thompsons.
NEGO ANNE was a J.L.Thompson ship, yard number 704 in 1961 for Wallem. Gotaverken engine by NEM.
The Silver line was founded by two brothers, Stanley and John Thompson who were members of the J.L.Thompson family

A little add: the wreck was declared to be a navigational hazard by the gov of Mysore who eventually sold it to an indian salvage company for scrap.Wreck removal work did not commence until 79
