Irish Naval Service LE CIARA at anchor in Bantry Bay.Built as HMS SWALLOW, commisioned in 1985, she was one of five Peacock class patrol ships built by Hall Russel Limited,Aberdeen,Scotland. HMS PEACOCK,HMS PLOVER,HMS STARLING,HMS SWALLOW and HMS SWIFT were all stationed in Hong Kong.SWALLOW and SWIFT sold to the Irish Naval Service 1988.The remaining three were sold to the Philippine Navy in 1997.
