Description:

6" 50 caliber Mk XXI
INS DELHI ex HMS/HMNZS ACHILLES-Gun Turret Preserved at Museum of Ttransport and Technology,Auckland NZ together with her Director,in which the four deaths occurred when she engaged the German raider,Admiral Graf Spee in 1939 as HMS Achilles.

Her guns also were in action postwar, when as INS Delhi she bombarded Goa during India's re-occupation in 1961.

This ia a 6 inch Mark XXI/50 calibre,all steel, twin six inch gun mounting.
Fitted to Leander,Arethusa and Amphion class Light cruisers.
The elevation was 60 degrees and maximum range 24,800 yards.

This is Y turret and the after director. Both were relocated in 1994 from the Museum of Transport and Technology to the Devonport Naval Base. Having been substantially restored they are now displayed at the Queens Parade entrance to the Naval Base.
