WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
CONSTANTINOS was photographed sailing from Avonmouth, bound for Alexandria with a cargo of milk powder, on 10th August 1974. Her funnel marking was clearly derived from that of her original owners, Strick Line, for whom she had operated as KARAGHISTAN from 1957 (having been built then by Readheads) to 1973.
She was owned by "Congroup" which was probably an abbreviation of Contoyannis.
In 1977 her management was transferred within the Christos Contoyannis Group to Tristar Marine Management of Piraeus, she was renamed ADMIRAL.C and her funnel colours repainted appropriately.
Sadly, on a voyage from Antwerp to Jeddah, her steering failed on 13.9.78 in heavy weather and she grounded in a position 36.53N/21.40E, broke her back two days later and sank on 3.12.78.
