Photo Category: Cruise Ships built 1950-1960
Originally the Italian cruise liner Augustus, seen here alongside at South Harbour Manila for use as a floating hotel. The owner also owns the nearby world famous Manila Hotel. This ship has spent much of its life laid up. Before coming alongside here, it was anchored outside South Harbour Manila for several years at least. I remember seeing it laid up in 1989 and again in 1990 in Kaohsiung Harbour in Taiwan. It was originally brought to the Philippines for conversion into a ferry, but this never went ahead. I heard recently that it has recently been sold again after it did not do very well as a hotel.

Hi Ray,
Update on this one...
I don't know if you have been in Manila recently but the ship is still docked at South Harbour and still used as a floating hotel. It is quite well maintained by the way looking at it from a short distance.
