No, I don't believe there were many that regarded Oriana as beautiful (but, although I remember her coming into service I was too young to know what was being said about her appearance). I do recall acquiring a copy of the magazine 'Design' from the Design Council, which had an extensive feature on every aspect of her interiors and I was utterly captivated by her. I never thought that Canberra had quite the same 'presence' as Oriana, internally or externally. Fortunately, I did sail on both ships when their original decor and furnishings were still intact. A voyage aboard Canberra at the latter stages of her life was a hugely enjoyable experience but she was then a tired and worn out old lady. So in every respect I remain 'faithful' to Oriana. But too each his own, as I said, each of the ships had their fans.

Although ORIANA certainly had distinctive lines, I don't recall many people, even at the time of her introduction, referring to her as being "beautiful". Give me CANBERRA - the Great White Whale - any time!

I always think that the Orient line ships looked their best before they lost their biscuit coloured hulls and their original livery!mrdot.

Good to see this beauty here again, helps to keep the balance with the recent pictures posted of Canberra. I know that each had their fans and although I sailed more days on Canberra, Oriana was always my favourite of the two.
