I can understand Ron's frustration as he had a similar sort of shot recommended fro deletion. Not by me I hasten to add.
I agree with John all things must be considered.

Well said, John. All you should delete is the zealot's addition to your photo details and hope he reads and takes note of your last comment about "more enlightened"
John Jones on Jan 28, 2012 22:01 (6 years ago)
Well, I'm quite happy to delete it if its too offensive on the eye and will probably let it run for a bit and do so myself tomorrow night. I have about a dozen others of her with no obstruction that I could post, but felt this one had a little more character featuring the Landing Stage, Stefan Batory and Phil's car.
As a photo admin myself, I can assure you that I would not have recommended a picture similar to this one for deletion on the grounds of 'vessel obstructed'.
You can apply the rules blindly to the letter or have a more enlightened approach as to what is appropriate. I prefer to do the latter in my categories.
Best Regards
John J.

Yes, it's my old banger Derek. Many a hairy ride down to Tilbury myself and John had in it too. Thankfully I gave up driving like a maniac many years ago, I had too many close shaves. As you say John, fond memories :-)

It would have been a pity if this photo was deleted by Administration, when a ship is moored alongside, it is quite imossible NOT to have something obstructing her.Sometimes it isnt even to get the whole of the vessel in the picture ,some bit or other is cropped, there are certain limitations to dockside photos. not like when you are lucky enough to snap her in midstream.
Some spotters are more fortunate than others in having the luxury of their jobs or positions to be able to get a greater location to photograph .
Well good luck to them.

Phil's is it?

The Ford Escort Mk II parked on the Landing Stage will no doubt bring back fond memories to a certain Photo Admin. on this site ;-)
