Brilliant photo much better then any I have of the Split.
my mother and I were very fortunate to sail on this Jadroplov line cargo vessel in late April/May 1981 we boarded in Port of Indiana after staying in Chicago for a week waiting for a confirmed sailing date and called at various cities along the route via most of the Great Lakes and The St Lawrence seaway ending in Rijeka Yugoslavia after visiting Casablanca and Livarno. We got into trouble in Milwaukee as we were loading white oak logs very rare in that region and the cars lined the road with their headlights trained on the ship and honked their horns. Local televison cameras were there too..
Said there was a five year waiting list hmm two double cabins were empty , they didnt really want passengers .Cabins were spacious not luxurious but comfortable. Food was horrible except the fresh bread made each day from the cargo flour bound for Morocco. !!Very good value voyage US $800 exactly for eight weeks sailing. :-)

Hi Marc!
This one is a beauty. Awesome shot. My favourite Jadroplov’s class. When I lived in Montreal in mid seventies I had a habit of visiting former Yugoslav ships. Been aboard this one, my cousin sailed aboard her. I wish I was taking photos than.
See my previous comments to you and Brian.

Great stuff Marc, I was never fortunate enough to actually see one of this type, in Yugoslav colours.
Superb shot once again.

Nice. I like the design of this one. Unusual for a bulker/freighter. For me anyway.....
