Built as a sugar lighter for the Adelaide Steamship Company in 1955 the Konanda spent her early days working on the Queensland coast. In 1961 she was bought by the Pearl Kaspar Shipping Company of Nelson, New Zealand, fitted with cargo gear and employed on the Nelson to Wellington service. In 1966 she was sold to Captain Athol Rusden, Port Vila, who bought many ex New Zealand coasters. She was wrecked at Port Vila when cyclone Uma struck on 7-8 February 1987 and was scuttled as an artificial fish reef on 16 November 1987.
