Having read the details here, she was completed as an aircraft carrier.
Must have been a really big job to convert her to a cargo ship.

Sorry, this one is called the RHODESIA STAR...blow up the name on the bow, its fairly clear to see Ouzman

The name is spelt RHODESIAN STAR Served on her during anchorage off Southend on Sea in the fifties
