I was onboard, Rick and I took interior photos also, they should be here on this site too, if they weren't deleted by the admins.

Explanation, in German coastal shipping its not so unusual to use names of family members, or name of place, where shipowner lives. Although, isn't Maersk doing the same ? :-)

The unusual nature of the male/female name crossed my mind, momentarily, but then I moved on (things don't stay in there very long these days;-) but thank you all for the explanation.
This is an integral & important part (the choice of children's names) of the ship's history.
Regards, Rick

Old German Coaster indeed, and Rick, they plan to use it for presentation. It's part of the Wischhafen museum of coastal shipping. You can visit onboard. True, the name is of both childs of the owner. Unlike "Jan-Dirk" which is of one child, but he has this double-name :-) Both ships in this region can be visited, and onboard "Greundiek" you can even have a tour onboard.

Ah, ok, thanks Theo! The name as a reminder of the children. Klaus-Maria and the likes are not unusual as you know, but Iris-Jörg appeared to me as quite unique.

Ens
not sure,, but think it is the two names of the children of the owner combined, a girl Iris and a boy Joerg

An unusual name, Iris-Jörg! Never heard such in Germany before...

Hi Cornelia, what an ideal vessel for preservation - typical & traditional German built coaster. Superb.
Did you go onboard?
Her IMO is 5098909.
Regards, Rick
