Hi Jens,
many thanks - that was easy shipspotting. I could watch the cranes from my living room and then walk to the quay when they were in the position to pick up the piece.

Hi Jan Carl, as I am not a seaman, I can't judge if this is good seamanship or not. Only some explanations: the ship in the background is moored at the other side of the port, only some small tourist boats moved alongside. The draft at this berth is very limited, so the HAPPY DIAMOND could not do much trim by taking additional ballast. During this lift, they put the third crane at full outreach to the opposite direction when they started lifting the piece, so probably as additional counter weight. When it was just slightly in the air, they turned the other crane to the position as seen in the photo and only then continued with the heavy lift. I think (hope) they know what they are doing.

Best regards,
Malte

Also note the passing ship on her starboard side, close traffic should be at least restricted during the lift. In case of an accident the passing ship but be in a very uncomfortable position because in such a case Happy Diamond certainly swings/capsizes to starboard side.

Nice photo Malte, however there is something to point out on this picture. During the complete lift of the cargo the hatch cover remains open, in at least one picture a collo is heaved up with one crane while the second crane remains at full outreach. This is to be considered as bad seamenship as full crane outreach or even topping up of cranes not in operation during heavy lifts are generating a loss of stability. Same for open hatch covers. Just can´t figure it out why they keep Hatch No.1 open while lifting into Hatch No.2 According to good practice and seamenship both covers should remain closed until the cargo is over the hold, so that it is possible to "touch up" the collo on the hatch in case the ship becomes instable or in case there too much dynamical forces are arising. I think this is not very safe.
