Description:

Drapetsona repair quay, Piraeus on July 16, 2000. IMO 7906162. Ex-HATEG 1979-2000.

Had some major safety related problems when in Canada in 2003. Renamed DEFIANT T in May 2004, DEFIANT I in June 2004 (switched to Slovakia flag) and again DEFIANT T in October 2004.

In March 2006 she was sold at auction in Colombo 'as is' at $2.4 MIL to Indian buyers. Renamed VICTORIA 500 in July 2007, reflagged to St. Kitts and Nevis, then to Panama. Current manager is K K Marine Consultants Ltd, Sharjah, UAE.

*On July 24, 2008 she arrived Alang, India for demolition

She went to the scrapyard under the name "Victoria 500".

Indeed TCMS did a good job, and it took 80 days for the ship to be released.
By Jan 2004 she had been sold but they didn't look after much better - as DEFIANT T she was detained twice in as many months in 2004.

Detained in Halifax, Canada, in February 2003 by Transport Canada Marine Safety. There were reportedly serious hull leaks, multiple equipment failures, and unpaid crew wages. "Essco Spirit" was about to attempt a loaded trans-Atlantic in winter. It is likely that a disaster was averted by the prompt actions of Transport Canada marine Safety..
