Description:
Queen Mary 2 approaching Hamburg, seen from Bubendey Ufer, 13.05.2012

As always her arrival was a remarkable event. As she was arriving during our harbor's birthday festivities I dare say thousands of spectators were watching her along the Elbe. Landungsbrücken were closed for harbor ferry services for about 40 minutes as she was sailing by because of the crowd...

Denis, Stan and Mr. Dot, thank you for your kind comments!:-)

Clive, as QM2 is calling at Hamburg on a rather regular basis, I will try to get an even better photo of her which will make you drop the "almost".:-))
Mr. DOT on May 14, 2012 18:54 (6 years ago)
from my perspective, this is a very good angle on this modern marvel! mrdot.

Ian, thanks for your urging but I have no particular interest in an Atlantic crossing to or from New York just for the sake of taking the voyage. My first ever visit to America was by sea, on the Queen Elizabeth 2. Since then I have crossed back and forth over the Atlantic on a variety of ships to and from various destinations but these were always part of longer voyages. Part of one of Queen Mary's world cruises might be an option I suppose but the lure of the small ships is far greater in the end.

Clive , Try it you may like it.
My wife and I were lucky enough to do a Transatlantic on her in April ,excellent . A Masterpiece of French Ship building IMHO . never heard one squeak, rattle or engine noise

When I see her from this angle I could 'almost' be tempted to sail on her.
Stan Muller on May 14, 2012 10:48 (6 years ago)
A great photo Jens, sharp, good contrast, she looks/is very impressive from this angle.
