To be more precise, Lake Superior's lake level was up 5 inches in June but remains 9 inches below long term average for July 1. Lakes Huron/Michigan up only 0.5 inches in June and is 19 inches below long term average for July 1 and 8 inches below their level on July 1 last year.

There is a pretty decent drought in the upper portion of the Great Lakes basin so not surprised water levels in the St. Lawrence are low. I'll flush the toilet a few extra times to help MSC out!

MSC announced effective July 1, due to deteriorating draft conditions on the St. Lawrence Seaway, they will be implementing an emergency low water surcharge for all cargo loaded at the Port of Montreal. Hence, their ships in/out Seaway sailing very light.

Hi Paul,

I was surprised to see how high it was riding but don't know the reason.

Thanks Mac! I just noticed that you uploaded a picture of this ship from Quebec City. I was on the bridge while you were on the promenade Champlain I presume.

She is riding high. There is a light load but still I wonder if we are having issues witht the water level down your way. This is certianly proving to be a dry year so far!!

Excellent Steve. I was downstream on the wrong side for the sun-just passing through Quebec-I was lucky to see it.
