By today's standards a very odd vessel: Korean-built ship with a British-built engine. It was a six-cylinder, two-stroke Burmeister & Wain type 6K74EF developing 12,500 bhp at 124 rpm and was built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast. The South Korean shipbuilding industry we know today was was in its infancy then and had hadn't learned how to build marine diesels. The Kuwait Class ships were built jointly by Hyundai and Upper Clyde Shipbuilders.
