I wonder if it handles like a shopping trolley? ;-)

The ship design was based on a supermarket shopping trolley.Shame they are going to remove the handle.

To Bob Scott, What is in 'the handle' anyway?
The "handle" is in fact a night club, and the slanted part just behind the funnel is the way in, this is an esculator.
Hope this clears up you question for you

Cedric: Not being one who harps on about ugly cruise ships, it gives ME no particular pleasure to learn that the handle is to be removed. It does give the ship a certain 'distinctive' look. What is in 'the handle' anyway? Some kind of observation lounge perhaps? Where you can see where you've been, rather than where you're going!

It is my soul opinion that she is a really beautiful looking mega cruiser, Italian always special style image of a ship built, and she is unique-unique comparing to today uniformly looking "fully box type mega cruisers" such as Oasis of the Seas, Queen Elizabeth and other latest built cruisers.

I thought the "handle" looked kinda cool and futuristic but you will be pleased to know that it will be removed in a future refit. Look for recent pictures of the Grand Princess to see what that will look like.

I refuse join the "let's all ridicule the ugly, modern cruise ships" club but have to comment that, with that structure at the stern as the handle, this one reminds me of a giant, floating supermarket trolley

Looking at the stern photos of this ship I can say that this is one of the most ugly looking liners afloat, she looks like a movie set for Starwars. ....Yuk.

Good thing she is heading my way this summer, then.
Nice photo, Gary.

The black and grey building beyond her bridge is even worse-looking than the ship!!

The two liver building spires kindof look like bedposts on the end of this cruise liner monstrocity! mrdot.
