Description:

To complement the photograph of the ship posted by George Givisis as STACOCO, abandoned at Elefsis since 1978, here is my photograph of the same ship under her original name of ST.MICHAEL passing Portishead on 30th March 1965 inbound for Bristol City Docks.

Launched at Hamburg in 1950, the ship was delivered to Gebr.Ulmann in 1952 and was operated by Fisser & Van Doornum from 1959 to 1965.

Later: 1965 CHRISTINA VINNEN - 1972 converted to salvage lighter BRISINGA - 1974 reverted to cargo ship - 1975 ANTONIOS STRINTZIS - 1976 ANNA M. - ALEXANDROS K. - STACOCO

explosion & fire Aegina Is 28.6.77 & beached; sank at Perama/Eleusis 28.4.78, sitting on bottom ever since

Thanks for that Malcolm, nice looking ship "of her day".... Built the year I was born.....hopefully I don't look quite as bad as she does now at Elefsis!!!
