On March 31, 2000, after 56 years in service with the United States Coast Guard, USCG Mariposa was officially decommissioned at her home port of Seattle, Washington. The saw service in seven decades, performing search and rescue tasks, servicing navigational aids, restoring and supplying light stations, icebreaking in the Great Lakes and rivers on the Eastern Seaboard, and carrying out law enforcement and international joint operations with CCG and other agencies.
